Topics & Knowledge

Topics are how you organize knowledge in Obris. Each topic is a collection of related content that your experts can access. You add knowledge to topics directly in the dashboard, and any expert assigned to that topic can use it immediately.

Creating a topic

Go to the Topics page and click New topic. Give it a name that describes the domain it covers, for example "Partner Deal Attribution" or "Engineering Onboarding."

Adding knowledge

There are several ways to add knowledge to a topic.

Sync from Google Drive

Connect your Google Drive account and select documents to sync into a topic. When the source document is updated in Drive, the knowledge in Obris stays current automatically.

  1. Open a topic and click Sync from then select Google Drive.
  2. Authorize your Google account if you have not already.
  3. Browse or search for the documents you want to sync.
  4. Select them and confirm.

Synced documents update automatically. You do not need to re-upload when the source changes.

Sync from Notion

Connect your Notion workspace and select pages to sync into a topic. Like Google Drive, synced Notion pages stay current when the source is updated.

  1. Open a topic and click Sync from then select Notion.
  2. Authorize your Notion workspace if you have not already.
  3. Browse or search for the pages you want to sync.
  4. Select them and confirm.

Sync from URL

Add content from any publicly accessible web page. Obris fetches the page, converts the HTML to markdown, and saves it to your topic.

  1. Open a topic and click Sync from then select URL.
  2. Paste the URL of the page you want to sync.
  3. Click Sync.

With live sync enabled, Obris periodically re-fetches the page and updates the knowledge if the content has changed.

Upload files

Click into a topic and use the upload area to add files directly. Supported formats include PDFs, images, and text documents.

Other tools

You can also add knowledge using the Chrome Extension (save web content while browsing) or the CLI (capture screenshots and upload files from the terminal).

Assigning topics to experts

Topics do not do anything on their own. They need to be assigned to an expert to be accessible through AI tools. One topic can be assigned to multiple experts, and one expert can access multiple topics.

Go to the Experts page, click an expert, and select which topics it should have access to.
